"산타클로스 + 평화 = 어린아이" 국제산타클로스평화위원회 회장  무아머르카라불룻

2002년, 튀르키예 안탈리아에서 열린 산타클로스협회 행사에 내 소중한 친구 남철희가 한국 대표들과 함께 참석했습니다. 그 만남을 계기로, 남철희 회장은 2004년 한국산타클로스협회를 설립하였고, 우리의 연대는 평화와 사랑, 존경의 정신 속에서 성장하며 오늘에 이르렀습니다.
 

그리고 한 달 전, 남철희 회장은 "작은 사랑의 씨앗으로 세상에 기적을 만들자"는 뜻깊은 아이디어를 담아 오는 6월 13일 "산타 뉴스(Santa News)"라는 뉴스 웹사이트를 런칭한다고 알려왔습니다.  그 소식을 들었을 때, 저는  마치 산타클로스로부터 선물을 받은 어린아이처럼 기쁨으로 가득 찼습니다.
 

또한, 남철희 회장은 "산타 뉴스" 창간을 맞아 사랑과 평화의 기적을 함께 만들어가기 위해 축하 메시지를 보내달라고 요청했습니다.

35년 동안 글을 써온 저에게 이번 경험은 특별했습니다. 처음으로 느껴보는 설렘이었고, 마치 아이가 처음으로 산타클로스를 만나는 순간의 두근거림과도 같았습니다.

이 설렘을 가득 안고, 첫 번째 축하 메시지를 보냅니다. 

저는 산타클로스를 사랑하는 아이들의 마음을 통해 평화의 의미를 깨달았습니다.

1988년 안탈리아에서 열린 산타클로스 기념 행사 중 하나인 "아이들이 어른들에게 바라는 것" 심포지엄에서 나온 에피소드를 소개합니다. 이 심포지엄의 연사는 바로 아이들이었습니다.

행사를 진행하던 사회자가 어린 연사 중 한 명에게 물었습니다. “

"어른들에게 무엇을 기대하나요?"

그 아이는 이렇게 대답했습니다.

"우리에게 화를 낼 때, 당신도 한때는 아이였다는 것을 기억하세요."

어린아이의 깊은 통찰이 담긴 이 한마디와, 40개국 이상에서 모인 아이들이 언어가 달라도 서로를 이해하며 나눈 약속과 사랑은 우리 어른들에게 평화의 의미를 가르쳐 주었습니다.

평화란 결국, 어린아이 같은 순수한 감정을 의미하는 것이었습니다. 우리가 진정한 평화를 원한다면, 그 순수한 감정을 기억하고, 끌어안으며, 소중히 키워가야 합니다.

하지만 시간이 흐를수록 아이 같은 순수한 감정이 성장할수록 평화와 사랑이 점차 희미해지는 모습을 목격해 왔습니다. 그러므로 어른들은 평화로 가는 길에서 어린아이 같은 마음을 잃지 않고, 서울에서 세계로 평화의 메시지를 전해야 합니다.

"산타뉴스"가 세계 평화의 중심이 되기를 바라며, 튀르키예와 한국 간의 오랜 우정을 이어가는 교두보가 되어 주기를 기대합니다.

In 2002, my dear friend Nam Cheol-Hee attended the Santa Claus Association event in Antalya, Türkiye, along with the Korean representatives. That meeting became the starting point for something meaningful—Nam Cheol-Hee later established the Korean Santa Claus Association in 2004. Our union, rooted in the spirit of peace, love, and respect, has grown and flourished to this day.

A month ago, Nam Cheol-Hee announced the launch of a news website, "Santa News", set to go live on June 13 with the inspiring idea of “Creating miracles in the world with small seeds of love.” When I heard this news, I felt overwhelming joy—just like a child receiving a gift from Santa Claus.

Nam Cheol-Hee also invited me to contribute a message for the inauguration of "Santa News," to help spread the miracles of love and peace.

As someone who has been writing for 35 years, this experience is truly special to me. I felt an excitement I had never known before—like a child seeing Santa Claus for the first time.

With that heartfelt excitement, I send this first congratulatory message.

Through the love that children have for Santa Claus, I have come to understand the true meaning of peace.

I would like to share an episode from the “Children’s Expectations from Adults” symposium, which was part of a Santa Claus commemorative event held in Antalya in 1988. This symposium was unique because its speakers were children themselves.

The moderator asked one of the young speakers: "What do you expect from adults?" 
 

The child responded: "When you are angry with us, remember that you were once a child too."

These simple yet profound words, spoken by a young child, along with the agreements and love exchanged among children from over 40 countries—despite their different languages—have taught us adults the true essence of peace.

Peace, in its purest form, is the heart of a child.

If we truly desire peace, we must remember, embrace, and nurture that childlike innocence.  Over the years, I have observed that as we grow, the purity of childhood fades, and with it, peace and love diminish. That is why we must carry this childlike spirit forward, ensuring that we continue to spread messages of peace from Seoul to the world.
 

I sincerely hope that "Santa News" will become a cornerstone of world peace and serve as a bridge to strengthen the friendship between Türkiye and Korea.
